Letter: Close door on solicitors to keep community safe

With rising crimes such as fraud and home invasions, and impostors posing as police officers, delivery people or salesmen, perhaps it’s time for our state to enact a law against door-to-door solicitors who intrude on our properties and knock on our door to sell us a vacuum cleaner, solar panels or the latest cable deal. There’s no immediate way of knowing if they are legitimate or if they are scoping out our homes and occupants for potential victimization. Once the door is open, it could be too late.
