Off the news: HPD officers justified in Makaha shooting

City prosecutors have concluded that two Honolulu officers were justified in shooting a man who pulled away from an attempted traffic stop in Makaha while driving a stolen truck. He reversed and rammed violently into police officers’ sedan as they followed, causing it to burst into flames, then continued to accelerate toward the burning car they occupied. The man died two days later from his injuries.
