The image from Japan’s ad campaign promoting senior Japanese tourism caught my attention on Friday (“Fuel-price shock hits the islands as Iran strikes push fares higher,” Star- Advertiser, July 10). In June 2000, the University of Hawaii Center on Aging, the Foundation for Senior Renaissance (Tokyo), and the Hawaii Tourism Authority coordinated with the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism to promote Japanese senior tourism.
