Among the first is the Drone as First Responder pilot program, which debuted Wednesday in hopes of hastening response times, improving operational metrics and coping with a dire officer shortage. It might be the best move HPD has made in years, provided the department limits deployment to stated and specific mission goals, and upholds promises of transparency.
