Letter: Closed food systems are promising investment

Growing up on a farm, I observed my father perpetuate the practice of rotating fields by letting them rest for nature’s care or replenish the agronomy through the use of mulch, compost and beneficial cover crops. This was considered temporary fallow land that also served as fire breaks.
