Off the news: Corruption case seals fate of MPD unit

It did not take long for an operational domino to fall at the Maui Police Department, after MPD Lt. Michael Vaituulala was charged last week in a federal corruption case that alleges he took “protection” money to allow illegal activities ranging from cockfighting to sales of drugs and aerial fireworks.
