Off the news: State agrees to take over military land

The state has committed to accept a Navy-proposed transfer of 32 acres in Kalaeloa already managed by the state to accommodate film and TV productions, Gov. Josh Green announced last week — with environmental and procedural reviews and other legally required steps to come before ownership changes hands. Once it does, the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism’s Creative Industries Division will continue using warehouses on the property, and expand use for film, TV and creative-industry workforce development projects.
