Off the news: 2 election races decided by tie-breakers

What a difference a day makes, and also a single vote. In two cases of Republican primaries this election, two challengers won their races with a lucky draw. Bob McDermott and Sheila Medeiros won out over incumbent lawmakers, state Sen. Kurt Fevella and state Rep. Kanani Souza, respectively, when their races each ended in a tie. The victors were chosen by lot in the rare tie-breakers, held at the state Capitol.
