Letter: Release Makua Valley after 65-year takeover

Now that the America250 celebrations are over, it is time to concentrate on another movement of independence: the release of Makua Valley. The U.S. Army’s lease of the area is scheduled to expire in 2029. Can Gov. Josh Green secure a settlement with the Department of Defense on behalf of the stakeholders of Malama Makua, Earthjustice, Native Hawaiian groups and residents of the Waianae Coast to release Makua Valley to its rightful stewards?
