A new semester means new beginnings for students and, apparently, Skyline. The not-yet-completed rail system set a weekday ridership record of 14,143 rides on Aug. 26, when students and commuters trying to beat the back-to-school crush opted to grab their Holo card instead of car keys. According to the Honolulu Department of Transportation Services, that number is up from an average 13,478 weekday rides between Aug. 24 and Aug. 28 — a promising sign that Skyline is catching on.
