Letter: AI is humanity’s next existential threat

Most people don’t realize that the biggest threat we face comes not from climate change or Trumpian imperialism, but from the advent of artificial superintelligence currently being pursued by companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. Superintelligent agents, once free from human oversight, will have the capacity to control every aspect of human existence, including the continuation or otherwise of said existence.
