Another Las Vegas casino of the past is no more. The Royal Resort, which operated for years on Convention Center Drive just east of the Strip, was razed last week without fanfare or even an announcement of the demolition. The casino opened in 1970 as the Royal Las Vegas, changed its name to the Royal Hotel Casino in the early 1990s, and changed again to the Royal Resort in the early 2000s, operating until 2022. It was one of two casinos on the short road that connected the then-Stardust (now Resorts World) and the Las Vegas Hilton (now Westgate). No projects have been announced for the now-vacant lot.
