Letter: Nonprofits should merge to cut waste and survive

The service and goals of Hawaii’s nonprofit organizations are much needed, but is it time for their consolidation? Financial constraint will last for years and these organizations need to reduce the costs of staffing, office space and other expenditures to provide continued service. Those in the community who need these nonprofit services can still benefit from their presence after a merger.
