Letter: Troubling rumor pits military against citizens

I have become aware that our president might have plans to negate the midterm elections by mobilizing active-duty military and the National Guard to enforce the takeover of polling places. I would like to call upon our military’s officers to ask the men under their command to ponder what they would do if called to militarily enforce a presidential order and institute martial law — in essence to squash our democracy.
