A recent letter voiced concern about immigration enforcement policy (“Protect Hawaii from sanctuary state laws,” Star- Advertiser, Oct. 4). Gov. Josh Green’s signing of Act 141 to stop our local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration actions, the writer claims, is a step toward Hawaii becoming a “sanctuary state.” The writer seems to label our immigrants as aliens living in the U.S., illegally moving in next door and getting special consideration. They imply immigrants in Hawaii commit felonies and should be held accountable.
