It was reported around 9 p.m. on South Kihei Road.
County officials say one unit on the third floor was engulfed.
Firefighters believe it is the attic.
The building has 40 units and approximately 80 people.
Residents were evacuated as firefighters battled the flames.
Video sent to KHON2 by a viewer showed flames shooting out of a window.
Police closed South Kihei Road in the area.
