Blizzard slams Northeast, closing roads and canceling flights

NEW YORK >> A powerful blizzard dropped more than a foot of snow across parts of the U.S. Northeast today, bringing travel to a near-standstill for millions of residents as the treacherous conditions closed roads, shut train service and forced the cancellation of some 5,700 flights.
