The Silverswords will play for the PacWest Conference Tournament Championship and the automatic berth in the NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. PST against #1 Dixie State who beat #5 BYU-Hawaii, 71-59.
Video streaming of the title game will begin at 7:20 p.m. PST.
The PacWest Women’s and Men’s Basketball Championship Tournaments are being held concurrently at Azusa Pacific University’s Felix Event Center in Azusa, Calif.
De’Andre Haskins led all scorers with 18 points, while Lee Bailey totaled 12 with five rebounds. Waly Coulibaly scored 10 points, pulled down eight rebounds, handed out three assists and posted five steals.
Killian Larson led Grand Canyon with 11 rebounds and 10 points.
Menacing defense resulted in low shooting percentages for both teams as Chaminade finished the game 18 for 52 (34.6%) from the floor and 6 for 21 (28.6%) from beyond the arc.
GCU went 16 for 52 (30.8%) from the field and 5 for 23 (21.7%) from three-point land, including going 0 for 13 in the second half.
Chaminade improves to 19-9 on the season, while Grand Canyon ends the year at 23-7. The Antelopes and Silverswords both are candidates for an NCAA Division II West Region at-large berth, while Chaminade is looking to claim the automatic qualifier with a win in the PacWest title game.
