I recently had the privilege of sitting among some of the most humbly extraordinary people I have ever encountered — aina-based land managers, kalo farmers, fishpond stewards and practitioners of the ahupua‘a and konohiki system that once made Hawaii one of the most food-sovereign places on Earth. I left humbled, hopeful and compelled to share two truths.
