Retirement in 2001 opened up vast stretches of time for me — time to read, reflect and engage with the world in a way that had previously been limited by schedules and obligations. I found myself gravitating toward interfaith groups like Open Table, The Interfaith Alliance Hawai‘i, All Believers Network, The Gandhi International Institute for Peace and The National Coalition of Religions for Peace. These communities provided not only belonging, but also shared purpose — an anchor in a chaotic and often divided world.
