Column: Hawaii should have been there at Great American State Fair

I recently had the privilege of visiting the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., where Americans from across the country gathered to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. As I wandered through the exhibits, I found myself looking for something familiar. Every state seemed eager to tell its story. There were displays celebrating local history, agriculture, innovation, music, military heritage and the traditions that make each state unique. Families proudly shared what made their corner of America special. Then I realized something was missing. Hawaii wasn’t represented.
