Column: Hold oil firms to account for climate-linked insurance spikes

The storms that have visited Oahu over the past few weeks soaked our home in Palolo Valley, but they tore through other neighborhoods on our island — homes flooded, roofs peeled back, fences flew, trees were downed. More than 45,000 Hawaiian Electric customers lost power at one point. Schools even closed for a day due to safety concerns. We’re having to get used to extreme weather on a regular basis.
