Column: Internment camp must not be buried

Manzanar, Tule Lake, Minidoka, Topaz, Jerome, Rohwer, Heart Mountain, Gila River, Poston, Amache — these are the names that have come to symbolize the mass incarceration of 120,613 Japanese Americans forcibly removed from the West Coast during World War II. The experience of Japanese Americans imprisoned as a result of Executive Order 9066 is recognized in books, films, and day of remembrance events across the country.
