In an unceremonious, quiet fashion, the state Legislature passed a $129 million slate of projects to inaugurate the very first “green fee” funding package. It is not perfect, but it moves Hawaii in the right direction. Addressing decades of underinvestment in conservation and climate resilience will take time, coordination, and continued commitment to caring for the places that sustain us.
