Column: Police Commission exists for a reason

Hawaii is facing an unprecedented moment in law enforcement leadership. At the same time, three counties, Kauai, Hawaii Island and Honolulu, are actively searching for new police chiefs. While I cannot speak to the specifics of the search in Kauai or Hawaii County, what’s happening here in Honolulu raises serious concerns about the integrity of the process.
