Column: Restore green fee funding, boost community efforts

In February 2026 at the Palolo Neighborhood Board meeting, the volunteer group Palolo Coqui formed in response to the massive coqui infestation in upper Waiomao Stream area. The program is modeled after promising on-going efforts in Waimanalo that have been in place for over two years, built as a partnership between the community and state agencies including the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Oahu Invasive Species Committee (OISC) and the state Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity.
