Column: There is space for AI in the classroom

I hear a lot about how educators fear the specter of artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom. When I think about technology and Hawaiian education historically, I’m struck by Hawaiians’ fearless embrace of technological change. I think of the inventiveness of the ancestors who created feats of engineering and amassed great banks of knowledge and skill in astral navigation and aquaculture, inventing technologies in the process.
