In 2011, the Congressional Gold Medal was presented to Japanese American World War II veterans.
And now you can see one in person.
It’s all part of a new exhibit at the Bishop Museum which highlights the extraordinary accomplishments of the Nisei.
"It’s very important to educate the younger generations because they don’t know what transpired a long time ago. This is a wonderful way to teach them what happened years ago," said Evelyn Tsuda, exhibit visitor.
"The children they should all come down here and see what the nisei veterans have left behind for them," said US Army SPC. Samson Aznai.
The congressional gold medal will visit seven cities this year as part of a national tour.
It’ll be on display here until April 14th.
