Editorial: Benefit in saving rare Hawaii species

Ah, the tiny yet mighty Hawaiian yellow-faced bee, which evolved on this state’s isolated islands and exists nowhere else. In 2016 — after seven years of evaluation, and in the waning months of the Obama administration — the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service added seven species of the bees to the federal Endangered Species List, marking the first time any bee species was protected under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.
