Editorial: Get creative, keep tourists coming

There’s surely much nail-biting within Hawaii’s tourism industry these days, as the federal shutdown enters its 30th day, bringing unsettling news daily about air traffic controller shortages, airport ground stops and travel delays across the nation. For this island state so dependent on travel, there fortunately have been no major problems reported, yet — though some overall negative impacts on U.S. tourism are emerging.
