Editorial: Isles adapt to new climate dangers

Even when Hawaii catches a lucky break in a storm — Tropical Storm Lala never made a direct hit — the blow lands pretty hard. The storm passed narrowly south of the Big Island, briefly attaining hurricane strength. Then it gradually veered west, following a track away from the state.
