The doctor shortage in Hawaii is bad, and it’s getting worse. The state was short 833 doctors last year — a spike upward from 768 in 2024 — as the need grew and supply shrank. There were 3,044 full-time equivalent physicians in practice, 31 fewer than in 2024.
