Editorial: Manage tourism to locals’ benefit

Hawaii’s job, workforce and population numbers are smaller than before COVID-19. A shaky state economy, buffeted by zigzagging federal spending shifts, destabilized by continuing global conflict and strained by inflation, adds to the worry many kamaaina families feel over a next generation’s prospects. And the latest economic projections don’t build much confidence in an accelerating turnaround.
