After 18 months of frustrating delay in addressing an issue as important as they come to Maui residents, the Maui County Council has finally poked its head out of the shell to vote on Bill 9 — a county law which would require the phase-out of short-term rentals (STRs) in residential zones. By a 5-to-3 vote, the Council moved the bill past the first of two readings on Monday.
