Editorial: Turtle Bay tests land-use conflicts

Environmental and community groups represented by lawyers with Earthjustice filed suit Tuesday, challenging plans for a new hotel at Turtle Bay on Oahu’s North Shore. The suit charges that Maryland- based Host Hotels &Resorts and Honolulu’s Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) relied on an outdated environmental report, and failed to take into account a newly listed endangered species of bees and evolving ecological conditions.
