Hawaii health and human resources heads confirmed

HONOLULU (AP) – The Hawaii Senate has confirmed Loretta Fuddy as director for the Department of Health and Sunshine Topping as director for the Department of Human Resources Development.

Senators gave the two department heads unanimous approval Thursday.

Fuddy previously served as chief of the Health Department’s Family Health Services Division, chair for the Hawaii Public Health Association and president for the Association of State & Territorial Public Health Association.

Topping previously worked as director of human resources for Sandwich Isles Communications and for NovaSol prior to that.

Only one of Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s Cabinet appointees remains unconfirmed.

David Louie, the governor’s appointee for attorney general, is expected to begin his confirmation process next month, but hearings haven’t been scheduled yet.
