Hilo reels after Hurricane Lala brings flooding, fierce winds

HILO >> Hurricane Lala’s intense winds and heavy rains battered Hilo on Saturday night. Rivers and creeks in the area swelled, flooding roadways and submerging cars in low-lying neighborhoods. Powerful gusts toppled large trees onto power lines and scattered palm fronds and branches across roofs and backyards.
