Kokua Line: Is direct deposit only way to get tax refund?

Question: I have simple taxes that I do myself and mail as soon as tax season opens since I always get a refund because of the tax credits. I mailed them already but now my friend tells me I’m not going to get my refund because I didn’t put my bank account number. Is that true?
