Question: For many weeks, I have been receiving emails from Social Security telling me to create a digital account by Wednesday to receive any-and-all Social Security information, which would eliminate calling a Social Security office (thereby, also probably eliminating a person’s job). On Sunday my grandson tried to help me set one up. We went through a whole series of questions online and at a certain point it asked for a telephone number as part of confirming my identity and my landline wasn’t sufficient. It had to be a cell phone for my grandson to go any further at that point. At nearly age 93, there’s not much “social” nor “security” for me. I’m wondering if you are hearing from others about the difficulty of this process if they don’t use a cell phone?
