Hilo native and St. Louis Cardinals second base prospect Kolten Wong, took his spot among the minor league elite today in Kansas City, Missouri, participating in Major League Baseball’s 14th annual All-Star Futures game. Wong, started at second base for the United States team and batted second in the lineup, in the USA’s 17-5 win over the World team. The Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate went 0-2 at the plate, but took advantage of a throwing error by the pitcher in his last at-bat, advancing to third base, and later scored. 2011 first-round draft choice of the Cardinals, who was named minor league player of the year last season, is currently batting .310 with 7 Homeruns, 34 RBI, and 15 stolen bases for AA Springfield.
