Letter: Amid feral animal cases, audit Humane Society

There seems to be an increase in animal incidents in the news lately, and the Hawaiian Humane Society (HHS) keeps finding itself in the spotlight. HHS receives millions of taxpayer dollars annually to serve residents, but when Waikele residents called for help, they were told to call the Honolulu Police Department — and HPD sent them back to HHS. This went on until several pets were killed and a resident was attacked by a pack of stray dogs.
