Letter: Ascendant China spurs rethink on Taiwan policy

Since the 1970s, America’s policy regarding Taiwan was one of “strategic ambiguity.” On the one hand, we are committed to defending Taiwan. On the other hand, we acknowledge, but do not affirm, China’s claim to Taiwan in our “One China” policy.
