Letter: Case backs bill for better Alzheimer’s screening

Mahalo to U.S. Rep. Ed Case for stepping up to the plate and cosponsoring the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. For families in Hawaii, this is not just another health bill. If approved, ASAP would give Medicare a pathway to cover FDA-approved blood-based biomarker tests that can help detect Alzheimer’s earlier, including for patients as young as 55 when clinically appropriate. Earlier answers mean more time — time to consider treatment, plan care, support caregivers and keep families connected.
