Letter: Christian God was never part of Founders’ plans

I wish to make a few corrections to a recent letter (“Bring God back into school, teach unity,” Star-Advertiser, July 5). Many of our Founding Fathers, including Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, were deists, not Christians. They believed in the existence of a supreme being who doesn’t intervene in the universe or human affairs.
