Letter: Clock ticking on mass tourism’s impacts

Don Wallace’s brilliant j’accuse is a welcome truth-telling deconstruction of the corporate media’s panic over the local Maui boys’ “attack” on tourists (“Maui riot throws spotlight on tourism,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 12). His snarky but creatively written take provides urgent political context about the contradictions of mass tourism in Hawaii. Private beach villas for Jeff Bezos and company, and land grabs by off-shore hotels.
