Letter: Cruel, wasteful to burn USAID contraceptives

As a retired public health professional who worked for years in family planning, including five years for Planned Parenthood in Oregon, I am appalled that the U.S. government is planning to burn almost $10 million of contraceptives that are in a warehouse in Belgium. These are contraceptives meant to prevent pregnancy as oral contraceptives, IUDs and hormonal implants, and were destined for poor countries in Africa. They do not cause abortions.
