The recent column regarding the value of a college education was well done, except for the statement that people with degrees earn 62% more than those without (“In Hawaii, learn truth about cost, value of a college degree,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, July 3). Those statistics have been around for years, but I seriously doubt them. As Mark Twain said, “Lies, damned lies and statistics.”
