Letter: Elections are more than referendum on Trump

A year and a half ago, Americans had a good feeling about the country. The world saw America as a shining beacon to democracy. Fast forward to 2026, America is on its knees. Americans don’t like the direction that we are going. The world looks at the U.S. with scorn and disdain. Allies are being insulted and are wondering if the U.S. is their ally.
