Letter: Full Council must work to solve housing woes

It is apparent that several members of the Honolulu City Council are actively working to further exacerbate the already severe housing shortage on Oahu. Council members Esther Kiaaina, Scott Nishimoto and Tommy Waters, by either introducing or supporting without reservations Bill 53 (2025) and Bill 17 (2026), have opted to placate incumbent homeowners at the expense of families who are compelled to choose between ever-increasing housing costs or leaving Hawaii just to be able to find a home where they can live.
