Letter: Give more incentive to install, run rooftop solar

Our family’s rooftop solar generates more electricity than we use. In 2024-2025, we sent HECO 15,027 kWh, resulting in a $1,569 credit. However, because we draw minimal electricity from HECO, we can’t use the credit, which disappears. To feed electricity into the grid, we pay monthly fees of $29.62. HECO neither reimburses us for power we supply, nor allows use of our credits to pay connection fees.
